Got up and went into the park first thing Thursday morning. Didn't really realize how shockingly beautiful giant granite monoliths can be. Saw Half Dome coming into the park and spent a lot of time, neck craned, looking up at El Capitan. Check out the climbers' tents halfway up the face of the rock. Don't know how one can sleep hanging off a rock, but we were amazed. We did the Mist Trail up to the top of Vernal Fall. Where 1.5 miles does not sound like a lot, the steep, wet steps on the last .3 miles definitely tested us out of shape people. We were walking on air by the time we finished. Not sure if that was the euphoria or the shaky legs, but either way, felt good about ourselves.
