Was a windy mountain road. Didn't realize we would get to +4700 feet. Little Runaway rode it like a champ... saw some amazing mountain views though throughout the Coastal Range and a shoe tree. We liked the shoe tree.

Big Trees
The Redwoods were truly awesome. Some have been there for thousands of years which blows my mind. They are beautiful and peaceful creatures.
Grant's Pass... almost to the Redwood's
Haphazardly pointed to the map and found this spot - glorious little campsite and prestine bathrooms (and showers, yay). Bill and wife were quite proud of their campground. First use of the new sunshade too. Used it for rain sprinkles, not sun, but still.
First stop Mt.St.Helen's
We stayed here largely because it was a logical first stop based on how many miles we wanted to travel any given day, but cloudy weather prohibited us from seeing the Mountain, so we walked a short nature loop and found a campsite. Darlene (as seen on scooter below) and hubby were the camp hosts. Retired truckers, and Darlene would talk your ear off if you let her, so Mike found out. Was a bit rough with the crappy weather, but we did it and bolted out of there in the morning... see next posts...
Left town on May 26th
After packing up everything into storage (seemingly took FOREVER), we finally left town on 5/26. I wanted to post a couple shots of the bus before take-off, as she's bound to get beat up along the road and not look as pretty and shiny as below.

Looking back on a good night
After lots of greasy hands, countless hours underneath the bus, and only 1 or 2 outbursts, she runs...

Here we go...
I meant to start this blog 5 months ago when we first bought the bus, but that time is gone now, and all that matters is what lies ahead. So, this is the beginning of an adventure Mike and I can't wait to start. It will be a hiatus from the world we currently live in, a time for us to see things, think about stuff, dwell in places, and hopefully connect more deeply with each other. Soon, all of our energy, both physical and mental will be used on us and our adventure, nothing else.
Our mode of transportation for the ride, is the lovely white 1990 Volkswagen Vanagon, and I guess our new home too. Mike has been working on it from the inside out ever since we bought it. He is amazing. I helped as much as I could (curtains - I'm good for somethin'!) so that we both become attached to this rig, put our sweat and love into it, and hopefully it will serve us well in return. :) She's our Little Runaway. Name is placeholder, but we think we like it. First few posts to come may be some fond memories of the work Mike has put into it so far...
